Description: Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) seeks a senior staff
Clinical Mental Health Outreach Specialist with experience and interest in
Sexual Assault/Trauma concerns to join the staff of University Counseling
Services in the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Services. This
position entails a strong emphasis on developing and implementing various
outreach programs for the university community. General duties also include
intake assessment, individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, crisis
work, trainee supervision, and consultation with university faculty and
staff. This position includes conducting some presentations during the
evening.
Qualifications: Experience and interest in working with issues related to
sexual assault/trauma. Doctorate or master’s degree in Counseling, Social
Work, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology or related field.
Completion of a supervised APA accredited internship or a master’s degree in
the above fields with 2 years work equivalent experience in a university
counseling center or related professional setting, excellent communication
skills, both oral and written, strong interpersonal skills, experience with
brief psychotherapy, evidence of multicultural competence, and licensed or
license eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia. ABD in psychology also
permitted with expectation of completed degree within one year of hire date.
University Counseling Services has an APA-accredited pre-doctoral intern
training program. The multidisciplinary staff of UCS includes nine full-time
clinicians and a graduate training staff drawing from the disciplines of
psychology, social work, and psychiatry. VCU is a growing urban university
of 30,000 students located on two campuses in the capital city of Richmond,
