We are excited to announce our upcoming Web training, Stalking and
Teens, to be held January 23, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. ET, in conjunction with
the fifth National Stalking Awareness Month, January 2008. Stalking and
Teens, moderated by our Teen Victim Initiative director Mitru Ciarlante,
is the fourth in our Web-based series on helping teen victims of crime.
Sandy Bromley, the Stalking Resource Center's senior staff attorney,
will discuss harassment cases involving teens and recent research on the
use of technology in stalking. She will also explore the normalization
of stalking and its impact on youth and teens.
Registration is free, but spots are limited. We ask organizations with
multiple participants to register as one person and view the
presentation together. We also encourage you to register early because
the response to our first trainings has been overwhelming. To register
or to access training materials, visit ncvc.webex.com. For assistance,
please contact Mira Krivoshey in the Teen Victim Initiative at
202-467-8747 or mkrivoshey@.... Materials from past sessions can be
downloaded at www.ncvc.org/tvp/main.aspx?dbID=DB_TeenTA151.
To help you observe National Stalking Awareness Month, the Stalking
Resource Center has once again launched a Web site
(www.ncvc.org/src/main.aspx?dbID=DB_NSAM2008739) with many downloadable
materials for your community to use. These resources include posters,
button and magnet designs, a victim brochure, a stalking fact sheet, the
"10 Things You Should Know about Stalking" flyer, and a sample
proclamation and resolution to use at the municipal, county, or state
level. Some materials are available in Spanish.
Over the next several months, we will continue to explore topics online
to help victim assistance providers and allied professionals provide
informed, culturally competent, and developmentally appropriate
responses to teen victims and their families. We provide these trainings
at no cost to you with the support of a grant awarded by the Office for
Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of
Justice.
Please forward this e-mail announcement to anyone who may be interested
and include this information in your upcoming publications or Web sites.
Thank you.
