Court Improvement Program and Judicial Planning Department
The Office of the Executive Secretary, Supreme Court of Virginia, is
seeking applicants for a Domestic Violence Program Specialist. This is
two-year grant funded position will have a variety of responsibilities
in the subject area of domestic violence case management.
The individual chosen for this position will undertake research,
analyze court-related issues, prepare recommendations for policy bodies, and
conduct and manage special projects to enhance court services related to
domestic violence cases. This work involves collaboration with judicial,
legislative and executive branch agencies as well as federal, state and local
governments and organizations. This position is also responsible for seeking
administering and overseeing several grant-funded projects.
Extensive writing and report preparation is required.
The most competitive applicants will have a Bachelor's degree and a
graduate degree in the social sciences or a law degree. A minimum of
three to five years of professional experience in criminal justice, judicial
administration, public administration or law is required. The position requires
excellent analytical and writing skills, experience with data collection, policy
analysis and group facilitation. The ability to work successfully in teams and
within the processes of the judicial system is required. Experience in meeting
planning, grant writing and grant supervision is preferred.
