Hospital Based Domestic/Sexual Violence Victim Services Advocate

VCU Institute for Women?s Health is seeking a candidate to provide
advocacy services on site at the VCU Medical Center's emergency department to
victims of domestic and sexual violence. The position is part of the
Care-Coordination social work services team

Position Description: The Hospital Based Advocate is responsible for
providing advocacy, case management and crisis intervention services for adult
victims of domestic and sexual violence focusing primarily on site at the VCU
Health System Department of Emergency Medicine. The advocate position provides
support to victims seeking health services by providing assistance in
assessment, case management and referral for post-assault care. The position
also serves as a resource to hospital staff and health providers for individual
case consultation or issues related to domestic or sexual violence
identification and/or referral.

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree desired. Master's degree preferred. At least
two years experience with the delivery of domestic and/or sexual violence
services. Demonstrated working skills in health systems, crisis intervention,
case management, community education and training and experience in establishing
and maintaining effective working relationship; in providing a broad range of
multidisciplinary services; in maintaining records; in preparing regular and
special reports and in communicating effectively both verbally and in writing.
