Licensed or license-eligible Counselor Needed
Experience working with vulnerable populations and individuals with
disabilities needed. Bi-lingual in Spanish/English preferred.
Summary of Duties
Responsible to the Executive and/or Clinical Director for
coordinating/providing direct services to survivors of sexual assault
and their significant others. The goals of these counseling services
are to facilitate recovery, empower survivors, and advocate on their
behalf.
Responsibilities
Counseling and Advocacy Services:
Coordinates, provides and/or supervises client service delivery
(including crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, follow-up,
emergency assistance, information and referral, assistance with
compensation claims, and hospital/court accompaniment).
Conducts or supervises client need assessments and
coordinates/provides recommended services.
Informs clients about their rights for protections and other services.
Collaborates with RCASA staff and allied professionals to ensure
optimal client care and utilization of local resources.
Coordinates support groups to respond to client needs.
Trains and supervises staff or volunteer support group facilitators.
Facilitates support groups.
Maintains client files according to agency policies and procedures.
Prepares client statistics and reports as needed.
Assists the Executive Director in planning future services for
clients.
General:
Provides staff back-up to on-call volunteers on a rotating basis.
Attends all scheduled supervision and staff meetings, continuing
education programs, and agency or community events, as requested by
the Executive and Clinical Director.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Licensed Counselor or Licensed eligible with Master's degree and two
years experience in social work, psychology or any directly related
field.
Minimum of one year experience working with sexual assault or abuse
issues. Crisis intervention experience.
Knowledge of community resources.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Flexibility and patience are essential.
Ability to work comfortably with diverse populations, vulnerable
populations and populations with disabilities.
Proficiency in basic computer skills.
Ability to respond in a timely fashion to hospital accompaniments as
staff on-call.
