www.vahealth.org/civp/sexualviolence
The website for the Division of Injury and Violence Prevention at the
Virginia Department of Health is a wealth of information for those working
to end sexual violence in Virginia. Most likely, you haven't had a chance
to navigate the entire site and view its rich contents. I'd like to help
make sure you know where to look when searching for information on the web
for your work. Each month, I plan to send out an email that highlights just
one of the features of the VDH site. Hopefully, you will find this helpful.
This month's topic: Virginia shared calendar for Ending Sexual and Domestic
Violence
About the Statewide Calendar
The Virginia Department of Health, in collaboration with the Virginia Sexual
& Domestic Violence Action Alliance, the Department of Criminal Justice
Services and the Department of Social Services, maintain an events calendar
for regional and statewide events. This is one-stop-shopping for your
training and event-planning needs. The partner agencies input their events
into the one calendar, so that you don't have to look at four different
sources to find what you are looking for.
Finding What You Need
There are two main uses for this calendar: 1) A centralized location to view
the training, conference or open meeting events that you could attend
statewide, 2) A planning tool to help your agency or committee plan dates to
hold an event or a meeting. By viewing the calendar before you set your
event or meeting date, you will know if there are conflicts with other
events which might compete for your participants' time.
How to Access It
The Ending Sexual and Domestic Violence Virginia Events Calendar can be
viewed online at www.vahealth.org/civp/sexualviolence or through a link at
one of the partner agency's sites. By clicking on an event, more detailed
information, such as location and registration information will be shown.
Adding Events
Each of the partner agencies has a designated person who may input events in
the calendar. If you would like to include an event in the calendar, please
contact Joanna Wolfe at VDH (804) 864-7741 or a partner agency.
Please note the calendar only includes events that 1) are open as a regional
or statewide event OR 2) affect a significant number of people working in
the field of sexual and domestic violence.
