POSITION INFORMATION

The employee provides clinical supervision and administrative direction to
mental health therapists in the effective and efficient delivery of services to
victims of domestic violence and sexual assault as well as services to adults
who are court ordered for group treatment because of intimate partner violence.
The position is in the Child and Family Services Division of the Department of
Human Services. In addition to providing direct supervision to the therapists,
the employee provides back up services to clients requiring emergency domestic
violence or sexual assault services.

The employee is part of a multidisciplinary team of service providers for
families and children. Clients are often in crisis and the employee is
responsible for ensuring prompt and effective service delivery to clients.

Other responsibilities include:

* planning, directing, and evaluating the implementation of programs, services,
policies and procedures to ensure that required standards of quality are
maintained;

* writing policies, operating procedures, budget narratives and grant
applications;

* overseeing the implementation of grant funded services;

* supporting the program’s community outreach/prevention efforts;

* completing as well as ensuring the completion of all documentation and
administrative requirements according to agency policy;

* representing the program and participating in several state-wide advocacy
groups; and

* participating as an active member of the Arlington Child Advocacy Center
Multidisciplinary Team.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

On-line application is required.

Minimum: Master's degree in a clinical discipline such as Counseling,
Psychiatric Social Work, Psychology, Art Therapy, Psychiatric Nursing, or other
directly related clinical discipline, all of which required a clinical practicum
involving diagnostic, treatment and case management services, PLUS three years
post-Master's degree experience providing clinical therapy and other mental
health services, which included the application of diagnostic, treatment and
case management services. The above experience must include at least one year
providing child welfare services or violence intervention/sexual assault
services and six months of administrative responsibilities such as contract
management, program administration, responsibility for coordinating the work of
others, lead responsibility for a project/assignment, or development of a
service/program.

Substitution: A directly related higher level clinical degree may substitute for
the Master's Degree and one year of clinical therapy and mental health services
experience. In the case of such substitution, qualifying work experience must
have been gained after the acquisition of the higher level degree.

Desirable: a) experience in managing (both clinically and administratively)
violence intervention/sexual assault programs; b) experience managing clinical
staff ; c) experience writing/managing grants; d) experience in child welfare
services; and/or e) experience with prevention programs and community outreach
programs.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. You will be required
to provide police clearance records upon final consideration for employment.

The applicant must possess, or obtain by the time of appointment; a valid motor
vehicle operator’s license from the applicant’s place of residence
or the applicant must have the ability and willingness to use alternative
methods of transportation to perform assigned duties and responsibilities at
locations other than the primary worksite. If the applicant possesses or
acquires a license, the applicant must authorize Arlington County to obtain, or
the applicant must provide a copy of the applicant’s official
state/district driving record. Any offer of employment may be contingent upon a
favorable review of the applicant’s driving record.

Work Hours: 40 hours per week, flexible hours during normal business hours
Monday through Friday. Some evening and weekend hours required.

The employee is required to travel within Arlington County to assess complex
and/or urgent situations and coordinate services.
