Safe Schools and Safe Students in Virginia Workshops Feb. 28th - Ma   Message List

Have you heard the great news? Our first Safe Schools and Safe Students in
Virginia 3-Day Workshop has been scheduled for February 28th - March 2nd,
2007. It will be held at the Wyndham Richmond Airport, Richmond, VA. The
workshops will highlight injury prevention strategies and resources that
schools can use to improve the safety of their schools and students. The
workshops on February 28th will be dedicated to address safety issues
specifically for elementary level schools. The workshops on March 1-2nd
will be dedicated to middle and high schools. Educators will leave with
loads of resources, new ideas and approaches to reduce injuries to school
age children.

The topics being presented are:

Elementary School Segment (Wednesday, February 28th)
* Internet Safety, Bullying Prevention, Student-Led Safety Projects,
Playground and Recreation Safety, Safe Routes to School

Middle and High School Segment (Thursday, March 1st - Friday, March 2nd)
* Internet Safety, Sports Safety, Teen Dating Violence Prevention,
Inhalant Abuse Prevention, Teen Driving and Passenger Safety, Bullying
Prevention, School Violence: Fears versus Facts, Student-Led Safety
Projects, Youth Suicide Prevention

The 3-day workshops are sponsored by the Virginia Department of Health,
Division of Injury and Violence Prevention. They are designed for school
administrators, teachers, coaches, school psychologists, guidance
counselors, school nurses, PTA leaders, and anyone else that manages the
school environment, curricula and/or is involved in student activities.

Attendance at the Safe Schools and Safe Students in Virginia 3-day Workshop
is FREE! Participants will have the option to attend the elementary school
segment or the middle/high school segment or both. Want more information?
