The James House Intervention/Prevention Services: Underserved
Populations Outreach and Support Specialist (Posted 1/3/07)
The James House Intervention/Prevention Services seeks to hire an
Underserved Populations Outreach and Support Specialist who will provide
sensitivity training and awareness within the community and be an
advocate, responsible for the development/ implementation of culturally
appropriate program services for domestic violence, sexual violence and
stalking victims/secondary victims who identify as underserved in the
following categories: people who reside in rural areas, women at risk,
older women, racial/ethnic minorities, non-English speaking victims,
people who identify as LGBTQ or transgendered, and people who are
physically or emotionally challenged.
Requirements: Understand the dynamics of domestic violence, sexual
violence, and stalking, and be sensitive to the needs of survivors,
particularly self-identifying underserved populations; participation in
suggested/required training opportunities; be energetic and flexible;
exhibit the ability to remain calm under stressful situations; maintain
a valid Virginia driver's license, transportation and telephone; be
available for nights, weekends and on-call shifts; maintain
confidentiality and discretion at all times; have a minimum of 5 years
of education and/or experience working with sexual assault, domestic
violence, and stalking victims; successful background check with a solid
work history. Pay range $32,000 - $34,000. Health insurance stipend
available.
The James House serves the cities of Hopewell, Colonial Heights and
Petersburg, and the counties of Dinwiddie, Prince George, southern
Chesterfield, Surry, and Sussex.
