Commission Announces Regional Stakeholder Input Sessions

Governor Kaine established the Commission on Sexual Violence in October
2006 with Executive Order 38. During the coming months, the Commission
will focus its efforts on: promoting appropriate criminal justice
responses to sexual violence; providing comprehensive services to
victims; and ensuring that effective prevention initiatives are in place.
The Commission is hosting regional stakeholder input sessions to gather
information on issues regarding the prevention, intervention and
treatment, and criminal justice responses to sexual violence. The
regional sessions will allow the public to identify:

* Current best practices
* Barriers to effective prevention, responses to victims and
prosecution of perpetrators
* Recommendations for future actions

These sessions will be highly interactive, structured and facilitated to
help ensure all participants have an opportunity to provide their
comments and suggestions. Your input will be documented and shared with
Commission members prior to their deliberations.
