Responding to Elder Abuse and Domestic Violence in Later Life:
Safety, Accountability, Services, and Collaboration
Objectives: Older individuals who are victims of abuse and sexual
assault face unique barriers to seeking and receiving help. This conference
will aid participants in improving their understanding of these obstacles,
and recognizing when an older person is being abused. Attendees will become
better able to recognize, address, investigate and prosecute instances of
elder abuse and domestic violence in later life. They will learn how
collaboration can improve the community response to elder abuse and domestic
violence in later life.
Target Audiences: Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, Attorneys, Judges,
Health Care Providers, Social Workers, the Aging Network, Adult Protective
Services, Domestic Violence Programs, Sexual Assault Programs
Conference Dates: August 24 and 25, 2006
