DCJS Violence Against Women Program Monitor

The Victims Services Section of the Department of Criminal
Justice Services seeks a temporary (two years), part-time (24-30 hours per
week) Violence Against Women Program Monitor to assist in monitoring and providing
technical assistance to grantees funded through the statewide Violence Against
Women Act?Services, Training, Officers, Prosecutors (V-STOP) program and the
Virginia Domestic Violence Victim Fund.
Duties: plans, allocates, and monitors federal and state
funding to local and statewide organizations that promote the apprehension, prosecution,
and adjudication of persons who commit violent crimes against women. Provides
technical assistance to programs, including law enforcement agencies,
prosecution offices, domestic violence programs, sexual assault crisis centers
and coalitions.
Qualifications: Candidate must possess: considerable knowledge of
the issues of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking; and considerable
knowledge of the criminal justice system. Knowledge of program planning, grant
funding procedures, grant management; budgeting and program evaluation are
preferred. Analytical skills, writing ability, editing skills and experience
with a microcomputer preferred. A degree in criminal justice, social science or
a related field and/or victim assistance experience are preferred. The selected
candidate must pass a criminal background record check.

Victim Services Outreach Coordinator

The Women's Center at VT seeks an energetic and committed leader to collaborate
on the implementation of a grant funded by the US Dept. of Justice. The Victim
Services Outreach Coordinator works under the direction of the Assistant
Director for Counseling and Advocacy to raise awareness of gender based
violence. This position coordinates outreach and education efforts concerning
sexual and relationship violence, stalking, harassment and cyber harassment;
supervises a student peer education group; assists with support and advocacy
for victims of gender-based violence. Masters Degree in social work,
psychology, higher education, student affairs or related field required.
