Virginia has a wonderful opportunity to participate in the National Teen
Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week. This is a high school based
program using a toolkit that has been developed by teens from around the
country. It is sponsored by the American Bar Association (ABA). Attached
is a fact sheet about dating violence, a sample letter that introduces the
program, and a set of instructions for using the toolkit. Please review the
materials - particularly the instructions - and consider if a high school
that you work with would be an appropriate choice for participation in this
program.
I will accept the first 15 high schools that apply for the toolkit and send
their contact information on to the ABA. The complete toolkit (valued at
approximately $300) will then be sent to that school for implementation.
PLEASE, as these materials are limited, only forward high schools that
actually have a commitment to this project. If you are working with a
community agency that has school-based programs, you may serve as the
primary contact for the campaign. For any school that is committed to
implementing the campaign, I will need the following information:
Name of High School
Contact Person (school or agency)
Phone Number
Address (to receive toolkit)
School or Agency
Address
City, VA, Zip
This would be a great opportunity for a peer education group! As this is a
"first come, first serve" offer, please obtain a commitment from the school and
then contact me as soon as possible.
