Each year the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance (VSDVAA)
tries to improve Virginia’s laws related to sexual and domestic violence and
increase funding for services. The most effective tool we have is the voices of
advocates and survivors. Mass participation in Legislative Advocacy Day is key
to our success and in the past has helped us remove marital exemptions from
sexual assault laws, establish the Domestic Violence Victim Fund, and restore
$220,000 in state funding to sexual assault crisis centers. Please help us
continue this trend by participating in VSDVAA’s 2006 Legislative Advocacy Day,
and bring as many people as possible from your community – including teens,
survivors, Board members and staff. We will provide you with information to
give to your legislators and talking points that cover the budget and other
relevant legislation the morning of the event.
