The Virginia Department of Health Center for Injury and Violence Prevention
would like to introduce you to a new resource for Virginians to help prevent
child sexual abuse. The Stop It Now!'s toll-free national Helpline,
1-888-PREVENT (1-888-773-8368), offers a safe and confidential opportunity
for adults who are concerned about possible sexualized behaviors directed
towards children to take appropriate steps toward safety and accountability.

A brochure <http://www.vahealth.org/civp/sexualviolence/Helpline.pdf>
details the Helpline's services which complement the crucial work of
existing Virginia hotlines, agencies and programs. See the billboard and
radio ads <http://www.vahealth.org/civp/sexualviolence/stopitnow.asp> that
are a part of a campaign to introduce Virginians to the services the
Helpline offers. The pilot campaign is running in the Richmond area through
mid-December with billboards, bus displays, posters and radio ads. More
information about the Helpline and the associated campaign is at
www.vahealth.org/civp/sexualviolence . You may order copies of the Helpline
brochure to share this information with your colleagues and/or clients at
www.vahealth.org/civp/sexualviolence (look under additional information).

Should you have a client or receive a call from an adult who has concerns
about the possibility of child sexual abuse, but is unsure of what to do,
you can refer them to the toll-free Helpline number, 1-888-PREVENT. You may
also refer adult callers who are abusing or who are at-risk and want to stop
and get help. The Helpline's trained information and referral professionals
are available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday- Friday. Help is also available
via e-mail at info@... . For more information on the national
organization, Stop It Now!, please visit the Stop It Now! national web site
www.stopitnow.org or call the Helpline at 1-888-PREVENT.
