The ABCs of Advocacy
November 29, 2005, 10:00 am-4:00 pm
Charlottesville, Albemarle Co. Office Building Extension
Cost: $40 for Alliance members, $50 for nonmembers (this includes lunch)
Registration deadline: November 22
What is advocacy? Why is it important? How do I know if I'm doing it
effectively? Those who attend this basic training for new advocates will have an
opportunity to answer such questions while exploring different types of advocacy
(including self, individual, and systems advocacy), the ethics of advocacy and
the roles of an advocate. Participants will learn and practice skills necessary
for effective advocacy; and examine how our assumptions may play a role in our
ability to advocate.
(Please note: the Alliance will be offering a multi-day training on advocacy
between July 06 and June 07.)
