Professional Development Manager
Detail-oriented individual with
strong organizational skills to manage the introduction and implementation of
the i-SAFE program throughout a specific region. In this capacity, the
Professional Development Manager will work to develop interest in and support
of the i-SAFE program with all levels of education and law enforcement, to
expand the i-SAFE presence, accomplishing predetermined metrics set forth by
the Director of Strategy and Strategy Team. Under the leadership of the
Director of Professional Development, the Professional Development Manager will
schedule and conduct trainings to familiarize educators, law enforcement
officials, and community members with the basic concepts of Internet safety
that serve as the core of the i-SAFE curriculum. They will ensure proper and
documented implementation of the i-SAFE program within their region. They will
provide customer support to those individuals and organizations that have
adopted our program. They will develop an in-depth knowledge of the i-SAFE
programs including curriculum, website, outreach programs, etc. The
Professional Development Manager must stay abreast of Internet safety issues in
the

The Professional Development Manager maintains some
responsibilities in accordance with the following goals and objectives, as
published in the Education Goals and Objectives document.
GOAL 1:
Disseminate Information Specific to Inappropriate Online Behavior
Effectively disseminate information
specific to inappropriate online behavior. Disseminate the information in such
a manner that kids and teens can quickly and easily comprehend the information
and can make educated and informed decisions based on the information.
OBJECTIVE:
Students: 1)
learn to recognize inappropriate behavior; 2) understand the skills necessary
to refuse or rebuff inappropriate behavior; 3) understand how to respond to or
escape from the situation; and, 4) when applicable, know how to report the
inappropriate behavior.
GOAL 2:
Disseminate Information Specific to
Consequences of Unlawful Online Behavior
Effectively disseminate information specific to
consequences of engaging in harmful or unlawful activities online.
OBJECTIVE:
Students: 1) understand that citizenship extends outside
of the physical world and is an integral part of their cyber world; 2)
understand that rules of engagement exist within cyber space; 3) understand
that laws exist to protect intellectual and property rights; 4) understand that
laws exist to protect persons and organizations against crimes of intrusion;
and, 5) understand that violation of these rules and laws may carry significant
consequences, including, for example, imprisonment and monetary fines.
GOAL 3: Disseminate Information Specific
to Victimization
Effectively
disseminate information specific to the tools and techniques that online
predators use.
OBJECTIVE:
Students: 1)
learn to recognize actions and/or situations that have the potential to place
them in danger; 2) understand the skills necessary to refuse or rebuff
potentially dangerous actions; 3) understand how to respond to or escape from
the situation; and, 4) when applicable, know how to report the victimization.
MEASURABLE
RESULTS FOR GOALS 1, 2, 3:
Maintain records on all courses
presented including school, teacher, date, grade, and number of students.
GOAL
5: Disseminate Curriculum
OBJECTIVE:
Provide material for training and instruction in the Safe
Schools Education Initiative curriculum.
Measurable Results: Assist
in maintaining records of all curriculum implementation, including name of
school, number of students, and dates of implementation.
GOAL
6: Adoption Plan
Establish a
solid foundation for new adopting schools within key school districts that will
support well-planned, and eventually, exponential expansion of the program in
multiple directions: 1) to additional grades within the adoption schools; 2) to
additional schools within the school districts; and, 3) to additional school
districts.
OBJECTIVE:
Develop an adoption plan that: 1) identifies target
states; 2) identifies target school districts; 3) identifies adopting schools
within each target school district; 4) identifies target grade level(s) within
adopting schools; and, 5) identifies a law enforcement agency within each
target school district that is willing to participate in the program. Develop
an expansion plan based on the adoption of the program by key school districts
within targeted states.
MEASURABLE
RESULT: Assist in maintaining records on schools and school
districts that adopt the i-SAFE program.
GOAL 7: Disseminate the Safe Schools Education Initiative
Disseminate the Safe School Education Initiative to public
and private schools within targeted states through the i-SAFE Professional
Development Program (training) so that students throughout the nation,
regardless of sex, race, ethnicity, or socio-economic status can receive the
benefits of the curriculum.
OBJECTIVE:
Enhance and implement
i-SAFE’s model Professional Development Program as the standardized means
to prepare educators and law enforcement personnel to participate as i-SAFE
Program Leaders (trainers) and Classroom Instructors on the current trends in
online dissemination of information and behavior that will be addressed in the
updated Y4 curriculum.
MEASURABLE RESULT: Assist
in maintaining records of all Professional Development Programs including
location, date, facilitator, and attendees.
GOAL 8: Web Casts
Empower students with tools that provide a proactive means
for reducing risks and the impact of risk factors, that they face when engaged
in online communication within the cyber community.
OBJECTIVE:
Develop and provide distribution for web casts that engage
students in group problem-solving activities and that provide tangible tools
for decreasing risk.
MEASURABLE
RESULTS: Assist in maintaining records on all webcasts shown
including school, teacher, date, grade, and number of students.
GOAL 9: Public Awareness
Raise public awareness throughout the education community
regarding 1) the safety issues that kids and teens face within the cyber
community; 2) the need for Internet safety education; 3) the need for youth
empowerment; and, 4) the need for community outreach.
OBJECTIVE:
Design a public awareness action plan that enlists
education professionals regionally and nationally as participants and advocates
of the i-SAFE Safe Schools Education Initiative and Community Outreach Campaign.
Measurable
Results: Assist in maintaining records of all conferences
and presentations at which i-SAFE was represented.
GOAL 10: Libraries
Empower students with skills and knowledge that allow them
to make appropriate decisions about the viewing and accessing of Internet sites
and information while conducting research from school or public library
facilities.
OBJECTIVE:
Disseminate the Library Safe Card program to adopting
school and public libraries.
Measurable
Results: Assist in maintaining records on libraries that
adopt the i-SAFE program.
