i-SAFE America: Internet Safety Training
October 26 - Roanoke
October 27 - Fredericksburg
October 28 - Petersburg
The i-Parent Campaign (
http://www.isafe.org) is a nationwide movement to
raise awareness of internet safety issues and advocate internet safety
education at home and in schools. As many children and teens spend
increasing amounts of time on the internet, parents play a critical role in
providing safety education and promoting cyber responsibility. This
training, presented by Kent Gates of i-SAFE, will provide a
train-the-trainer session that will allow you to provide information to
parents in your local area. This training is ideal for anyone who works with
parent groups - PTA's, faith groups, parents of youth in clubs such as
Scouts, Boys and Girls Clubs, 4-H, etc. Whether you're a staff member or a
volunteer, if you'd like to help parents help their children to be safe from
internet bullies or predators this is the training for you.
The i-SAFE presentation will be held in the morning. Lunch will be provided.
The afternoon session will be provided by Jayne Flowers of the Virginia
Department of Health and will focus on the primary prevention of sexual and
dating violence. The training will be provided at no charge to the
participants, but pre-registration is required. Registration may be
completed on-line at www.vahealth.org/civp/sexualviolence.
