We're in the Money: Different Ways of Thinking about Increasing Revenues

All nonprofits are constantly in search of the next dollar. The day-to-day
pressure to raise these funds is ever present and is exacerbated by the
challenges of maintaining organizational integrity and delivering
high-quality programs. This conference will offer the opportunity to step
back and think about some of the main sources of nonprofit support from a
different perspective and to get new practical insights into how to develop
revenue strategy . and get your hands on more resources.

This year, the Especially for Nonprofits Conference is partnering with the
National Center on Nonprofit Enterprise to present a panel of nationally
known and eminent thinkers about nonprofit management who will provoke
thought and debate about this critical issue. Each panelist will explore the
essential nature and emerging trends of one type of support, and pinpoint
the practical implications:
. Michael Rushton, from Georgia State University, will examine the more
obvious forms of Government Funding and Incentives, but also analyze other
ways in which tax dollars find their way to nonprofits.
. Patrick Rooney, of Indiana University and the Center on Philanthropy, will
assess the state of Charitable Giving by Individuals and steps nonprofits
can take to increase donations.
. Renee Irvin, of the University of Oregon, will identify the circumstances
in which it makes sense to consider Barter and Collaborations, and how to
make these work.
. Richard Steinberg, from Indiana University, will consider the nature and
objectives of membership schemes and the ways in which Membership Income can
be enhanced.
. Dennis R.Young, of Georgia State University, will pinpoint the conditions
for successful generation of Fee Income and the effective development of
Commercial Ventures.

One practitioner from the central Virginia area will respond to the thoughts
of each panel member and every participant will have a chance during the day
to discuss these topics with each panelist. The whole session will be
facilitated by Richard Brewster, the executive director of NCNE, who has
extensive experience of leadership in large and complex nonprofits.
