Guy Fi: The Fictions that Rule Men’s Lives
Guy Fi is a 60 minute solo theatre performance on men’s issues. The central
premise is that many men base their behaviors on a set of unarticulated
fictions, and that exposing these fictions allows men to make more informed
choices about their behaviors and thus live healthier and more fulfilled
lives.

This performance will be followed by a discussion of men’s issues and their
relationship to gender-based violence. It sets the stage for the next
session on primary prevention with men.

Sexual Assault in Context: Teaching Men About Gender
Sexual assault programming for men should always include information about
masculinity, the most important cultural context for the continuum of men’s
disrespect toward women. When men understand how gender and other aspects
of culture operate, they begin to think more critically about the world
around them, to become better at evaluating evidence, to solve problems, and
to grasp “the big picture” by putting information into context. In this
presentation, Dr. Kilmartin draws on 20 years of experience in teaching
about masculinity and doing primary prevention work with men.
