SOCIAL WORKER I
SEXUAL ASSAULT RESPONSE & AWARENESS PROGRAM (SARA)

Duties:
Incumbent provides social work services to victims of sexual assault
for the Alexandria Sexual Assault Response and Awareness (SARA)
Program.
Provides individual and group counseling, case management, court
advocacy, and crisis intervention to victims of sexual assault and
abuse; responds to crisis calls on the program hotline; performs data
entry and statistical reporting duties; often works as part of a
multi-disciplinary team with other community agencies; and performs
other related duties as required.
Will communicate both verbally and in writing with clients, co-
workers, and the general public. Will prepare and maintain complete,
accurate, and confidential records. Duties may include supervision of
a student intern.
Minimum Requirements:
Completion of college-level courses in sociology, psychology,
counseling and related course work in the field of social work.
Additional Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver's license issued by state of residence.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology, and licensed
or license eligible. Experience providing direct clinical and crisis
intervention services to victims of sexual assault and abuse;
experience providing individual and group therapy with children and
adults; experience providing presentations to community groups and
professionals.
