Keynote Address
Dr. Foubert, the creator of the Men's Program, will be the keynote
speaker addressing sexual violence as a men's issue and discussing
ways to involve men in sexual violence prevention. A workshop
performance of the Men's program will also be performed. The Men's
Program will facilitate an all-male peer rape-prevention workshop.
Among college men in several universities this workshop, which is
adaptable to other settings, has been demonstrated to be highly
effective in reducing negative beliefs and myths under girding
rapists' attitudes. Every needed procedure for organizing and
conducting a rape prevention program is described in this manual,
including: the training of peer educators and advisors and
recruiting men to be peer educators.
Sexual violence is a broad term that includes sexual assault, rape,
sexual harassment and molestation. It affects women, men, youth,
elders, and society. This training will focus on why sexual violence
is a men's issue and what men can do to help. A few of the workshop
topics include: The White Ribbon Campaign and reaching out to young
males. Participants will leave with knowledge of specific tools to
use and teach in their communities.
