Please note: The deadline for the following conference has been extended to April 9.
Out of the Shadows: Families Experiencing Domestic Violence (April 20-21)
VADV is sponsoring this major statewide conference, which will focus on improving the individual and community response to children who have been exposed to domestic violence and their parents. Beyond teaching participants how to recognize and respond to the effects of domestic violence on children, the conference will provide effective strategies to professionals who can help victims/survivors of domestic violence offer support to their own children, foster collaboration among professionals responding to child witnesses of domestic violence, and will offer resources necessary to provide culturally sensitive services. Conference partners include the Department of Criminal Justice Services, Virginia State Crime Commission - Family Violence Subcommittee, Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Virginians Aligned Against Sexual Assault, Office of the Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court of Virginia, and the Office of the Attorney General.
Intended audience: law enforcement, child advocates, prosecutors, judges, court personnel, magistrates, attorneys, child protection workers, mental health providers, school personnel, and anyone who works with children exposed to domestic violence and/or their parents
Cost: $175 Certified Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Program staff; $200 VADV and VAASA members; $250 non-members
Location: Holiday Inn Select Koger South Conference Center in Richmond
