CLASS: SARA EDUCATION AND OUTREACH COORDINATOR
POSITION #: 624 CLINICAN A
DEPARTMENT: Prevention, Assessment & Counseling
WORK UNIT: SARA Services (Sexual Assault Education &
Outreach Staff Position)
GRADE: 10
STATUS: Full-Time
SALARY: Per promotion, demotion or transfer
DUTIES: Education and Outreach Coordinator provides sexual assault
education and prevention programs to area middle schools, high
schools, colleges, after school programs, residential facilities,
allied professionals and the general public. Provides training and
assists in the facilitation of the RELATE Project. Recruits, trains,
and supervises the SARA Volunteer Companions and ensures consistent
and continuous coverage of the SARA 24-hour sexual assault crisis
hotline. Plans and prepares outreach presentations, presents
outreach programs, represents the SARA program in the community,
attends monthly and bi-monthly meetings on sexual assault anddomestic
violence prevention, and holds monthly SARA Volunteer Companion
meetings. Maintains the SARA resource library.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in human services field and/or one
to three years equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.
Demonstrated experience in public speaking with formal education
and/or training in providing educational training programs. Ability
to mobilize, organize and provide supervision and direction to a
volunteer task force. Experience in crisis intervention techniques
and methods. Effective verbal and written communication,
organizational and interpersonal skills. Computer software
experience in Microsoft Windows environment.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS AS ACQUIRED THROUGH EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR
EXPERIENCE.
Must have a valid Virginia driver's license with a safe driving
record (no serious or multiple violations). Candidates who are
offered a position are required to provide fingerprints and personal
information for a criminal history check as a condition of
employment.
