Hi!! My name is Amy and I joined this group because my son Chance was born with several rare brain anomalies, some affecting the hormones he produces. Up until June 2006 he was growing fairly normally. He is on growth hormone but more for blood sugar issues than for lack of linear growth. He has always been in the 95% for his height and he fell to the 75% right before starting treatment. In June 2006 he had surgery to remove his adenoids and tonsils and place tubes in his ears. He gained 20 lbs from 10 days after surgery to August 2006. He has gone from 36" tall to 44" tall and from 42 lbs to 66 lbs. No one can tell me what is going on. We have spoken to several endocrinologists, neurologists, GI dr's, ortho's etc. We will be seeing a nutritionist in April but we have cut his calories back to 1000 a day and he is maintaining his weight but he's not losing any. He is globally developmentally delayed, is not walking, but does combat crawl. Im just at my wit's end and don't want weight to be another thing against him. He's the average size for height and weight of his 8 yr old brother. They even share clothes!! And finding pants to fit is a horror!! They are 10 mi too long.... AHHH Can anyone help me?? Im scared he's going to be 7 ft tall and weigh over 400 lbs by the time is 18!! Not to mention the heart problems and stuff that goes along with it......
