Wellshire Farms Chicken bites & corn dogs not GF, pulled from shelve   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #11872 of 12104 |

The Harris newsletter alluded to this without giving details.  I wanted to let you know about this.  If you want to read the whole article it is at:

http://www.upi. com/Health_ News/2008/ 12/31/Whole_ Foods_pulls_ wrongly_marked_ kids_food/ UPI-933512307511 45/

It says:

"Three products made for Whole Foods by Wellshire Farms Inc. of Swedesboro, N.J. -- Chicken Bites Dinosaur Shaped, chicken corn dogs and beef corn dogs -- contained between 116 and 2,200 parts per million of gluten, a Chicago Tribune investigation found.

While the federal legal definition of gluten-free is imprecise, most experts view it as containing less than 20 parts per million, the newspaper said."  (which I don't think is really true, I thought in August the new law kicked in that says if it is GF it must have less than 20 ppm---my addition)

My daughter has had a gluten reaction after eating them before, but we were not sure what had caused the reaction.  We have also bought them at Good Earth.  I wonder if we still have some in the freezer?  If we do, I think we should return them with the copy of the article!
