Sadly most of the research companies are way behind in updating their
websites. Nexpep hasn't updated their site since inception. Alan is
correct that Dr. Anderson actually has a few research trials in place
right now.. one uses hookworms - yech, but this vaccine is pretty much
what I expected to cure Celiac Disease. I pray the research below also
works for that 20% of us who may not benefit from a vaccine.
In addition ChemoCentryx out of Europe is in phase II trial Traficet
En. Another drug that promises to allow Celiacs a normal life again.
Check into Albatherapeutics.. so far they are having above avg results
in their drug
Alvine Pharmaceuticals has a peptide that pretty much dissolves
gluten, its taken 15 minutes before eating much like people with
lactose intolerance do.
Also worthy of note is a company that is designing probiotic drugs
that fill the gut with genetically altered Probiotic bacteria that
produce gluten in small amounts which is a similar if not a less
invasive approach to Dr. Anderson but its still in the early stages
yet. look for Actogenix I believe it's called. Dr. Anderson's research
might include them down the road..
So your daughter has every right to be excited!!! My sons are too
young to talk about this with as their concept of time is in days not
in years..
I'd like to think we are only a few years (1 maybe 2) before we see
the first of these hit the streets.. the others may be in 3 years or
less...
At this point I believe I could even stomach hookworms.. I'm sick of
being "different" at parties, friend's homes and going out to eat..
its a royal pain in the neck... To have a Guinness Stout again!
Dreamy.... Keith
