Re: [UMSGMembersList] Long Time No Talk!

I too only label a few bars at a time, due to shrinking.

Okay, I should be done for today.  I bet you think I crawled out of the woodwork!

Subject: RE: [UMSGMembersList] Long Time No Talk!

Thanks for the update on your liquid soap, Karen! Glad to hear it's working
out for you, but sorry to hear about your flu virus. Hope you are on the
mend and through with viruses for awhile!!!

Some of you know I was in an auto accident the beginning of October, and am
still recuperating after spending a month in the hospital and in rehab at a
nursing home. I'm hobbling around, and had my oldest and youngest with
their families here for the holidays. My youngest is from CA, so he was
glad to see snow fall the last few days before they went back home, even
though he had to shovel! My husband passed away in May, and we spent most
of the first 5 months of 2006 in and out of hospitals, so I am WAY behind in
my soap making. I am seriously cutting back on my products, although I
will probably always continue to make soaps, salves and tinctures. With
that in mind, I need to update my website and take off all the "extras" that
I don't intend to continue with.

Good idea to start a discussion on printers that work with our products,
Karen. I use an inkjet printer, and don't have much problem with my
labels... For soap, I use "cigar band" type labels of a heavier paper (I
think around 40# stock, but not sure... It's not card stock) and sheets of
labels (30 to a sheet), with the back label holding the ends of the band
together. I haven't experienced smearing, as the soap is very dry when I
label it, and I only label a few bars at a time. I have experienced too
much shrinking when I've done many bars at a time, even though I use less
liquid than suggested according to fats in my soap recipes.

Hope you all have a fabulous year!
Hugs,
Alaena
