I haven't used chocolate chips, but I have used cocoa powder in lip balm... and also a bit of peppermint EO. It lasts a very long time... and is very good stuff, especially for kids. I've also added Alkanet-infused sweet almond oil to add a bit of red color to lip balm. It doesn't really leave much color on the lips, but really looks pretty, and is especially nice with berry or cherry flavored oil added. I think the beeswax and essential oil add some long-life properties to the lip balm. I put a bit on honey in mine, too, but it is tricky to work with, and requires re-melting once, just to the point of being melted, while stirring constantly, to incorporate the honey without major separation. I haven't ever tried a powdered honey... perhaps that would work better.
