Chocolate chips in lip balm?   Message List

Re: [UMSGMembersList] Chocolate chips in lip balm?

I haven't used chocolate chips, but I have used cocoa powder in lip balm... and also a bit of peppermint EO.  It lasts a very long time... and is very good stuff, especially for kids.  I've also added Alkanet-infused sweet almond oil to add a bit of red color to lip balm.  It doesn't really leave much color on the lips, but really looks pretty, and is especially nice with berry or cherry flavored oil added.  I think the beeswax and essential oil add some long-life properties to the lip balm.  I put a bit on honey in mine, too, but it is tricky to work with, and requires re-melting once, just to the point of being melted, while stirring constantly, to incorporate the honey without major separation.  I haven't ever tried a powdered honey... perhaps that would work better.
Hugs,
Alaena
Hi gang,
I just made my 6 yr old some lip balm with chocolate chips in it.  Does anyone know the shelf life of these delicious snacks?  I have never used any type of food in my creations:)  Too yummy, I'd probably eat all my products.

I used:
1 oz cocoa butter
1 oz bees wax
2 oz caster oil
16 grams nestle semi sweet chocolate chunks
2 drops of peppermint EO (without her knowledge) She Hates peppermint

It tastes good and leaves a subtle color to my pale colored lips.

Thanks for your comments in advance,
Kim Johnson-Harding
