Re: [UK-Coeliac] Holiday In Cyprus

I booked a GF meal last September on a First Choice flight to Skiathos and had excellent meals both ways.  The stewardess said there are now almost as many "special" meals of one sort or another as normal ones.  The meals came boxed nicely with a printed label saying Glutenfree Meal so it was not a veggie - there were plenty of those!
I found I had to book the meals direct with the airline as the FC booking agent for the flights did not have a box to tick for special meals other than normal and veggie.  But he did give me a phone number for the airline who answered at once, took the request efficiently and sent me a confirmation letter next day.  Good experience all round- and the flights were on time!

I haven’t been to Cyprus since I was diagnosed, but the food is basically Greek.

The big difference is that they usually speak very good English.

You’re not travelling First Choice are you?  I found this on the web.

First Choice - by Sue Bradford

8 May 2005

We have just returned from Cyprus, with Flight First Choice. I am a coeliac and tried to book a gluten free meal - unfortunately the powers that be have decided this condition is not worth catering for. Vegetarians who restrict their diet by choice are catered for - coeliacs who have a medical condition are not. Have I missed something here. My husband who is 6ft 3in tall spent over 5 hours with his knees jammed into the back of the seat in front due to lack of leg room. I wonder how this relates to Health and Safety! We could have paid for seats with extra leg room when booking but these seats are not guaranteed - anyway why should we have to.

Monarch gave me a totally acceptable meal on the way to Egypt.

James

P.S.  While I think of it, Olympic does do gluten-free meals, but you never get them!
