Welcome to the list Linda. I was about 50 when diagnosed and had the same
tingling in my toes. The list has been pretty quiet lately but a new member
can get us talking again. There is a lot to learn and hopefully if you have
specific questions, some of the list members can share some of their
knowledge and experience with you. Can you tell us a bit more about your
situation? Are you using a blood sugar monitor? What have your sugars been
running? What kind of diet are you working on? You will find a lot of
different diet ideas both on and off this list, but most of us know that
carbohydrates need to be sharply reduced in diabetic people. I believe it
is the carbohydrates that produce that "apple" shape so many of us fight
with. Carbohydrates go right to the middle of your body and drive up your
triglycerides.
Well anyway, welcome. There is life after diagnosis, and while diagnosis is
a total bummer, it is SO much better than what you could have been diagnosed
with so do your best to make the best of it so you can get on with your new
healthier life style.
