RE: [TypeTwo] Confused!!

Kathy,

I think that most of us have been mystified by our sugar readings sometimes
and I wish I could tell you, you will figure it out easily in a short time.
However, that is not likely the case and each person's body seems to do a
little differently than the next person's. I for one, have never been able
to keep my sugar down while eating bread to any extent at all. One piece of
toast for me is the max and even one piece of low carb bread sends it up
quite a bit. Remember that skim milk is low in fat but NOT low in carbs, and
carbs are sugar. It is so hard to advise anyone on diet because so many
people subscribe to different philosophies on diet, including nutritionists,
but all that worked for me was the Atkins diet, Low, low carbs. I use
real cream in my coffee for instance because it has a lower carb (sugar)
content and higher fat content.
Also, emotions seem to play a part in high sugar counts or low sugar counts.
Whenever I get upset about anything, my sugar drops dramatically so that is
just an example of other things that can play a part. I guess one thing
everyone agrees on (and universal agreement is few and far between) is that
exercise is always a recommended activity to maintain a lower sugar level.
Also, sugar readings tend to be higher if you are sick with the flu or a
cold for instance.

It is not easy to learn how your body will react to certain foods, but
remember all grains, fruit and milk are carbohydrates and will have an
impact on your readings. When you are just plain frustrated and not sure
what to eat, concentrate on a good chef salad, with out a high carb dressing
and you will get through another meal.

Best of luck to you,
Carole in Wisconsin.

Subject: [TypeTwo] Confused!!

Hi everyone!

I am going to check into a Diabetic Dietitian....In the mean time until I
can get into see one I am trying to figure this all out!....So far you all
have
been very helpful and I thank you soooo much<hug>

#1- I am confused because yesterday my readings were getting better....OK,
well, better than they have been I guess......132 AM and then I ate wheat
toast(2) with "promise spread" and skim milk for breakfast and it sent my
reading
to 227....my reading, 2 hr. after lunch was 121, after walking a mile
yesterday evening was 98, bedtime reading last night was 107....I had only
about 3
or 4 strawberries last night and this mornings reading was 145. WHY?

Ok now for confusion #2- I bought a loaf of sugar free bread last night and
ate toast(2)again for breakfast with skim milk, this sent my reading to 193
for my 2 hr. after breakfast......I am wondering if the vitamin supplements
I
am taking with my Actos and Amryl after I eat breakfast have anything to do
with the high reading after breakfast.

The reason I turn to you is because I am sure(hoping) others have had the
same problems in the past and might shed some light or advise.....I go back
to
my Dr. in July so I will be sure to run things by him,I always do......I
was
hoping to get it in better control before I see him.

Any input will be welcomed!
Thanks,
Kathy :o)

God is soooo good!!....Have a great day!!
