I don't know if this works for everyone, but I flat-out gave up potatoes,
rice, bread, and pasta (as well as counting my carbs and avoiding
desserts). After a few months, I found that potatoes, rice and pasta taste
really bland and most of the "comfort" foods I used to eat all the time
taste really bad. So it's been easier to stick to it, once I got over the
initial couple of months.

Trying to help my dad who also has Type 2, we did a joint resolution where
he's going to give up potatoes, rice, pasta and bread for 2 months (for my
part, i'm going to exercise 5x a week). I dropped a lot of weight when I
was diagnosed with type 2 and switched to a moderate carb diet. He's
hoping to as well.

I thought it would be the potatoes that I miss.... but I really just miss
great bread! I allow myself to "cheat" from time to time in small
amounts. This helps me keep my WOE.

hope this helps.
Kristina
