Re: [TypeTwo] Latest A1C and a couple of questions?

Hi Lisa,

I dont write much but I pay attention and do recieve
some wonderful info from this list...

I will say something regarding the spiking and the
lows...
Part of the problem is people eat, dont watch the
carbs etc. and then after end up with that super high
BS reading...Then as your body processes all that you
ate, the reading goes down, down, down until you eat
again and it spikes...

I dont say absofacto NO CARBS or such but a lower
carb, lower fat eating program works for many...
I'm not saying eat a 10 oz steak at every meal at
all...
Balance to a point but find what foods work for you...
Pasta, breads, cereals, etc. dont work for
me...Potatos either...Im finding that they dont work
for most...
Even a 1/2 cup of rice will shoot mine way up...

My DE(diabetic educator) and nutritionist have done
their homework, looked at all the studies, even those
on renal failure and if we keep our BS's up and
elevated, spikes etc. we have a higher chance of renal
failure, of vascular diseases etc...

There is no set eating program...
For me, I watch my carbs...I test 1 hr after and 2
hours after and I watch my fat intake as well...
I eat a lot of fishes, green salads and veggies, a few
eggs(because I dont care too much for them) and other
things and I feel good...
I'm on Prandin which you take with a meal, it helps
with the spiking(tho am on the lowest dose) and it
leaves your body within an hour...

Your HA1c is the test that will tell you how you are
doing over all...and its wise to have it done every 3
mos.
I agree the spiking isnt good but the A1c is an
average of your sugar so the spikes and the low points
are in there and they are equaling out somewhere...

I watch what I eat, get some exercise, tho not enough
:-) and I'm trying...I read, I educate myself...
I'm not saying I dont eat what spikes me sometimes
because I do...But as a rule, it works ok even tho I
crab...

For me, the lower carb eating keeps my BS on a more
even keel and I dont feel badly...
When I wasnt, the spiking and the lows made me feel
horrible...

Peace,

Dalia

Since the HgA1C is an average reading, it can be distorted by extreme bg readings, either high or low. My brother spends significant time each day after meals...
