Welcome and you seem very computer literate. Just need to know how
to click a mouse and type here.
Start out by looking into the sidebar on the left. There are Files,
Links, Recipes, Polls so feel free to add some of your own.
Do you have a formal diagnosis or looking to see if you have this?
Any questions just ask,

People on the conference calls keep asking me about the homemade
products I use. This link will explain how I use only baking soda 1-2x
week alternating days with only a conditioner and maybe 1-2x with a SLS
(sodium laureth sulfate)free shampoo. Kiss My Face makes an awesome SLS
free one with Green Tea and Lime. Expensive.
http://www.wikihow.com/Wash-Your-Hair-Without-Shampoo
My goal is to reduce or eliminate all the products containing SLS
(sodium laureth sulfate). Shampoo, soap, detergents, toothpaste and
most other products that foam. Hey, the bonus is that I am saving a lot
of money too.
Do your own research and see what you think. Type in sodium laureth
sulfate and Agent Orange.
Skin is our largest organ of the body and absorbs more toxins than you
can imagine plus our diets can be deficient in antioxidants.

hello: This a great list of food... but my only question is some of the foods listed on the low side of Choline, people who have trimethlaminuria cannot not eat...but I still love the list. Does any one know if eating oatmeal is good? or is it giving them a problem? I think eating oatmeal would be great, especially because I am tired of eating raw veggies all the time. I cook them too. But my food intake is limited, & i cheat sometimes, only because I get hungry... Does any one have any tips??
I've questioned whether I should keep taking the statins too; my grandma on my moms side died of heart disease and my maternal uncle too. I've gotten numerous tests but they all come back normal, in fact the cardiologists wonder why my heart is in such great shape given my high choresterol. I do take two to three month breaks from my statins (which my doctor doesn't know) .Its true sometimes the risk of taking them may be worse than the benefits.
Joyce,
Have you at any point had hepatitis, or been tested for Lupus or any other
vasculitic disorder?

Here is the choline link but I agree some of the things may have
carnitine or indoles which are not the best for TMAU either.
http://www.ars.usda.gov/Services/docs.htm?docid=17477
Oatmeal, if it is the processed in a packet kind then the list says
12.6mg of choline. It's not an indole or on the high carnitine list,
so 1 packet is fine.
I like this list because it gives a clear amount of food instead of
grams. It shows that 10-12 macadamia nuts has the same as the one
oatmeal pack. That I could do for breakfast too with a piece of
fruit or flat bread toast.
Strange that both lists are from the USDA!! People need to use these
as a guide but also to know their indole/cruciferous veggies to
avoid and their carnitine to limit. It's not just the choline.
Good point Jen.

Hi Joyce,
Some research studies suggest that one could get a fatty liver with
elevated enzymes from too little choline.
Also read this about a low thyroid causing elevated liver enzymes.
http://www.medhelp.org/forums/gastro/archive/1075.html
If you need a long technical paper for him/her that says "Choline
deficiency increases DNA damage in humans" (includes elevated liver
enzymes) I will email it to you.
Hope if others have had this they will answer you. I have a feeling
that after being on a low choline diet for years we should all be
aware of our liver enzymes and the need for routine physicals.
Best wishes,
Sharon+

You live life beyond your PC. So now Windows goes beyond your PC. See how
Hi Mercy,
My total cholesterol has been as high as 400. Then came down to 365
after following this diet. My MD gets so mad at me because I won't
take the Statins that he won't do the test anymore. Actually I have
to say I refuse them to cover his butt. It runs high in my family
but my parents lived into their 90's with it and had no heart or
liver problems.
Yes those Statins do work fast but make sure they check your liver
enzymes often, especially in the beginning. For those not knowing
your cholesterol numbers, they want total cholesterol under 200.
Exercise can help reduce it too.
The dry cleaning odor was one of the things people were talking
about when I first came to the boards years ago. No one seems to
mention it anymore.
Interesting post and nice chatting Mercy,

To answer these two questions. I do have elevated liver enzymes and
very high total cholesterol usually over 300.My triglycerides are
always over 200 and my ldl is always abnormally high too (over 200).
Doctors are always asking what I eat to cause my levels to be so high.
I think I eat healthier than a lot of people who have normal levels.I
have to take statins for the rest of my life. Its funny because within
just a few days of taking a statin, my levels drop to below normal
range, which also surprised my doctors.
I stopped taking my clothes to the dry clean because of that very
unusual smell.I remember my clothes would smell worse after being dry
cleaned than they did before. Now I just buy clothes that don't
require dry cleaning.

Hi Joyce,
There are numerous reasons for elevated liver enzymes. The major
reason is medications like cholesterol lowering ones and tylenol. My
sister and sons liver enzymes were extremely high from the
cholesterol lowering drug Lipitor. They returned to normal after
stopping the medication.
If you are on any prescribed meds please don't stop them until you
talk to your MD.
Have you been tested for TMAU yet or wondering if this is common to
TMAU? There is a poll for your question now with 2 responses.

Please do not despair. There are many of
us who like you have suffered the symptoms you describe. The first thing you
need to do is to get tested for TMAU. I do not know which country you come from
but I am sure that you will be able to get tested for the condition. Let us
know where you live so that we might be able to direct you to testing. Please
know that with diet you can get some control over the symptoms of this disorder.
Please know also that you are not alone. Many of us have been where you are. We
have found ways to deal with this condition.
If you would like us to send you details
about the diet that may help you please let us know an email address.
Best wishes
