My name is Annette in 03 I became a TBI person who knew nothing whats
so ever about it ,I never even heard of TBI before.Along the way I was
forced to learn the in and outs of the TBI world.I am learning a thing
or 2 strictly by living with it,I am learning the ins and out through
the system.Took me 2 years to finally get medicare so I learned to
apply to the Ymca where I was lucky enough to received a discount. In
reality the Y is where I get my PT and where I socialize.I recently
broke my foot how I miss the Y.I have transit drive me there 4 days a
week I spend an hour 2 days a week in weight training (for people who
are 55 and older) where I fit in perfectly with the older
generation. The other 2 hours I spend in there 90 degree water either
in water arobics or water walking .
I plan on volunterring soon the Y has every thing for me it even helps
my speech I'm no longer mistaken for retarded.
This week I go to the doctor for my foot hopefully one last time and
start volunterring and going back to the gym.For those of you whose
speech was affected has speech therepy worked or do you think time
would be just as good?I renewed my license not that I plan on driving,
does that get easier the thinking aspect of driving?I drove for the
first time and I went down a deserted side street went 12 MPH as
people say its like riding a bike.I don't think so for me it was way
too much to think about.Years ago I'd get lost in a public restroom
comming back from the restroom going back to the table its not like
that now tiI'd love to hear you alls similiar situations ya never know
your experience might help me out one day!
