This morning (April 23, 2007) on the Today show the nutritionist,
Joy, said that the following foods were good for the brain and
could "boost your memory".

Cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, brussel sprouts, califlower,
and cabbage.
Green leafy vegitables such as swiss chard and kale.
Also, beets, lentils and black eyed peas.
Some of these have lots of folic acid which is very helpful.
Berries, cherries, cherry tomatoes, onions and apples.
She said that people eating alot of the above foods were less likely
to develop Alzheimers, although it is not yet known why.

Joy also said that "studies" had recently shown that even a cup of
coffee, for people without coffee intolerance, can temporarily boost
memory function.

The Dr. Nancy was also on the show and said that exercise (even just
a one half hour a day walk) and getting enough sleep (at least seven
hours a night) were important for memory function in the brain.
