Traces' Favorite Oil of the Week   Message List

I read an article this week from "New Scientist Print
Edition", it was published November 7, 2001. It
talked about asbestos in building (we all know it's
now a problem) and some of the alternatives that are
being looked into in order to control the asbestos
fibers. I want to quote the following paragraphs...

"Now Italian chemists have neutralized the lethal
fibers using an extract of cloves. When the liquid
extract touches the surface of asbestos, it instantly
hardens into a polymer similar to lignin, which gives
wood its strength. All the potentially hazardous
fibres are harmlessly embedded in the polymer and
can't float off into the air.

As an added bounus, the polymer also mopped up the
'free radical' chemical complexes that can lurk on
fibres and damage DNA, potentially turning cells
cancerous."

Wow! Image how good this stuff is for you! I've used
clove oil in the past in blends (it's in Spice of Life
and le Deliverance to name a couple), I've used it to
repel bugs (sprinkle some in your tent at the end of
the year before you fold it up, it repels bugs and
kills mold), and I have used it to make scented
pinecones for the holidays, but never have I thought
of it protecting my lungs! I know many of us work and
live in buildings with asbestos in them. You may want
to think about diffusing a little clove (or an oil
that contains it) every now and then. Just put a drop
or two on a cotton ball and put it near an air vent to
help clean up the air. It's especially nice this time
of year to go with the holiday season. Clove Bud
essential oil was/is on sale through October (regular
$6.00, sale $5.10), I'm going to keep it on sale
through November 7.

Sorry, I haven't heard what the oil call topic will be
this week yet.

We had a fun PAT (Physical Aromatic Touch) class this
week. We only had one couple, but they've really
enjoyed it. Would you like to attend a PAT class?
Contact us (208-852-2295 or hit reply to this e-mail)
to arrange a time. We'll even come to you!

Be watching for November's newsletter and don't forget
to get anything you wanted that was on sale in October
before the sale prices expire! (Especially the new
bags.)

Heads up! The ForeverYoung Christmas gift packs are
now on the site! They're all listed in the "on sale"
section. They come with gift bag and card, all you
have to do is sign and give!
