This week's favorite essential oil is Lemongrass. I
love lemongrass to begin with, I use it pretty much
every day because it is excellent for connective
tissues: tendons, ligaments, cartilege, etc. I use it
to keep away a lot of owies in the joints. I have
several clients who have *bad knees,* I recommend they
apply lemongrass on a daily basis (in a carrier oil),
they all call me later to tell me how much their knees
love me! The reason why lemongrass popped to the top
for me this week is some reading I've been doing.
I've been boning up on essential oils as antiseptics
(cough, flu, cold, etc season is just around the
corner). Lemongrass is superior to the powerful
anit-fungal drug, Hexaconazole and it is the 2nd most
powerful essential oil for killing respiratory tract
germs when diffused (Cinnamon bark is #1), it is
effective against a number of disease-causing
bacteria, including MSRA(methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureas), another study in Japan showed
that lemongrass kills the ulcer-causing bacteria H.
pylori without causing other bacteria resistant to
it's effects!

Well, I've been on my feet a lot lately (canning) and
my ankles have been hollering (so's my back) so I've
been adding a couple of drops of lemongrass to the
dishwater. I figured that would mean I would inhale
it and absorb it through my hands. Oh, it's been
wonderful! Apparently, it also offers a pick me up to
your energy :-)
