Re: [Toronto_Social_Phobia_Support] Sound Play Events from Ann-Marie Boudreau

Hi Marta,My names Bob I have only attended a few meetings at OMHA I hope to get to attend more but am unable at the present just no time.I called Erla the other day and left message. She is such a nice person and I'm sure you are too.Anyway I just wanted to mail you this writing that my Dad showed me many years ago.I try to read it often but never enough it seems to say so much.

Go placidly amid the noise & haste,& remember what peace there may be in silience. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.Speak your truth quietly & clearly;and listen to others, even the dull & ignorant;they too have their story.Avoid loud & aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain & bitter;for always there will be greater & lesser persons than yourself.Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.Keep interested in your own career, however humble;it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.Exercise caution in your business affairs;for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;many people strive for high ideals;and everywhere life is full of heroism.Be yourself.Especially,do not feign affection.Neither be cynical about love;for in the face of all aridity & disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.Nuture strength of spirit to sheild you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue & loneliness.Beyond a wholesome discipline,be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe,no less than the trees & the stars;you have a right to be here. And wheather or not it is clear to you;no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God,whatever you conceive Him(or Her) to be,and whatever your labours & aspirations,in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul. With all its sham, drudgery & broken dreams,it is still a beautiful world.Be careful.Strive to be happy.

November Events listing!
With the diminished daylight hours I find myself
appreciating any time that I get to spend in the
sunlight.  A friend recently sent me a short
meditation of Saint Therese and one of the lines stood
out for me:  "give your soul the liberty to sing,
dance and be warmed by the sun that is there for each
one of us."  Through these darkening months, may the
sun continue to shine through for you!
Namaste,
Ann-Marie Boudreau

with Ann-Marie Boudreau.  Where:  Centre for Conscious

enthusiastically invited!

Saturday, November 12th:  Journey Experience:  Myself
and fellow soundwork colleagues will be creating live
sound around and over you using instruments from
traditions across the globe while you relax for 90
minutes.  This experience can also deepen meditative
states as you recline in savasanah (relaxation pose or
laying meditation).  At times melodic, sometimes
dissonant, soundscapes are created utilizing intimate
knowledge of the chakra system, shamanic traditions
and the vibrational nature of our bodies to enhance
and deepen the meditation experience.  Time:
8:00-10:00pm  Cost:  $20 or pay what you can  Place:
1443 Bathurst (south of St. Clair, east side of
Bathurst).  NOTE:  Entrance is at side of building.

*  Saturday, November 26th:  Soundwork as Soulwork
presented by Ann-Marie Boudreau, along with fellow
Soundwork colleagues.  Through interactive vocalizing
and instrumental play, Soundwork can open up a
dialogue with our inner life or create a sense of
community.  Because of the vibrational nature of sound
and through intentional sounding, we can access and
express a range of feelings, issues and memories as
well as release emotional physical blocks while
balancing the body's energy field.  During this
participatory presentation you will experience a
variety of healing instruments such as the Tibetan
singing bowls, tingshaws, shruti boxes, crystal bowls
and more.  The healing power of the drum and voice
play will also be explored.  Where:  The Whole Life
Expo @ the Metro Convention Centre – Stage Two.  Time:
4:00 – 5:00pm

Friday/Saturday, December 16th/17th:  The VIBE:  If
you have been looking for an imaginative experience to
call out your creative spirit then the VIBE is for
you!  This cycle of exploration and expression is all
about accessing your own artistic energies through
improvised sounding and impressionistic painting.
Participants journey deep into their inner landscape
by listening to various rhythmic and melodic
qualities, played live.  After your psyche has been
bathed in sound, you pick up a paintbrush and create
to your heart's content, capturing the essence of your
journey.  Participants are encouraged to come with a
`beginner's mind'.  The emphasis is on following your
creative energy in a supportive environment.  Where:
Primrose Studio, 27 Primrose (Landsdowne and Dupont)
Time: 9pm Friday, December 16th to 7am Saturday,
December 17th (yes, that's overnight!)  Cost:  $90.00.

November 12th 9:30 – 5pm:  Expanding our Rhythmic
Vocabulary, Cost:  $160.00.
Whether we are supporting a ritual or facilitating a
drum circle, it is helpful to draw on a range of
rhythmic styles.  The purpose of this daylong session
is to explore techniques and applications of various
hand percussion instruments.

January 7th 9:30 – 5pm, January 8th 10:00-5pm:
Handling Grief, Loss and Transitions through
Collaboration, Cost:  $350.00.  Whenever a person goes
through a significant loss or transition in life, he
or she may be `without words' to express feelings.
Soundwork is proven to be an effective tool for
exploring and expressing matters of the heart during
these tender times.  Our intent is to focus on
collaborative teamwork as it applies to grief and
bereavement processes, life transitions and more.  We
will work experientially with grief within the group
as well as with role plays.  The use of contemplative
sounding will be explored.
