Today's meeting got me thinking about book lending in general. I think we could
make book-lending a fairly regular occurrence in our group, according to the
individual comfort levels of the participants who own the books, of
course. Reading can be a proactive way of making progress through the week, so
that we don't feel we're just waiting for the next Saturday meeting to gain
insight. Maybe not everyone likes to go shopping for books on subjects related
to social anxiety, but I've got a few in my collection that I'd be willing to
share -- not just the two I mentioned -- and more can be added after I've read
them. ;-)
So please bring your books to meetings! But may I propose these guidelines/rules
when doing so:
1) If you're the lender, please say when you would like the book back. If you
are the borrower, please try to honour this date. Bring a pen and paper to
remember with whom you're exchanging for phone numbers or e-mail addresses,
especially if you're willing to lend more than one book.
2) Of course, when returning a book, you may not find its intended recipient at
the next Saturday meeting. Maybe we can appoint a "librarian" to hold all
semi-returned books in escrow. (LOL) I nominate myself, but of course I won't
always be there, and anyone can volunteer for this. Just don't forget the
semi-returned books at home. And when returning a book, remember the name of the
"librarian".
3) Delinquent borrowers will be shot out of a cannon. I'm just kidding of
course, but if for any reason you'll be late, please let myself, Rama, Bob, or
anyone one you trust, know of these circumstances. Let's not lose any books.
Too many rules yet? =) See you in High Park.
