I like him as a doctor. He is very easy to talk to and I trust him.
However he respects my decisions in regards to my health. Not only
that, I have other health problems and he knows me very well
(sometimes too well). I'd hate to start over with another doctor and
that would be after a long time of searching.

I have researched this very much.i had mine removed in june.am much better.
the choking is gone but i still cough sometimes. my meds were the same from
feb till dec. i went from .88 to 100 mg. surgery does help. i was told that if i
didnt have the surgery i would choke to death in 6 months time. thyroid problems
will cause you to have lasting hrart problems that do not go away. i do not go
to a indo doctor anymore. your medical doctor can treat you also. even
better.indo doctors dont want to see you but every 3 months or 6 months. thats
not wise . this is very dangerous. your thyroid controls everything in your
body.if you want to know more just e-mail me at
peacefrogsribbett@... and i will explain more to you

Liz,
I was dxed about 10 years ago with Hoshimotos, I to had a lump on my
thyroid which made me gag all the time it felt like someone was pushing in on my
throat it drove me nuts this went on for 6 years. I had to end up having my
thyroid removed and it went away. Take care and have a happy new year.

Lizzydizzy,

I was diagnosed about 2 years ago with hyperthyroidism. Even though I didn't
have a cyst on my thyroid I did experience that choking sensation. It was
like someone had their hands around my throat 24/7. This made me very

to the nurse because I was waiting for my initial visit to the Endo. Dr.

Hello, I was dxed with Hyperthyroidism in August or September due to my
heart literally flipping out on me. I have had a scan and ultrasound
and blood work. I have a cyst on my thyroid and right now my doctor
wants to do a wait and see approach. Lately though I have been coughing
like crazy and I feel like I have something stuck in my throat. I also
have a hard time swallowing pills and sometimes choke on my food. When
I lay on sides (my prefer sleeping style) I feel like I am choking or
gagging. When I am on my back, I just feel like I have something in my
throat. Could this be from the cyst? Should I see the doctor again? I
am not sure if it is the cyst doing this or perhaps I have sinus
draining or something. Any input would be appreciated.

Hi Jeremy and welcome.
With regards to your question, I can tell you that when I get hypothyroid my
joints and muscles ache. If I get too hypo I have to crawl, not walk, up
the stairs. I can also tell you that if yo ur thyroid is hyper it can take
the calcium from your bones and you end up with osteoporosis.
I'm sure if you google- hypothyroid muscle joint pain- you'll get lots of
information.

Hi everyone,

I am big on Yahoo groups with a few of my own. I knew I'd find one on
Hashimoto's thyroiditis. I was just told I had it. I am a 34 year
old male. By what I understand, for males, especially in my age group,
this is not so common. Just want to learn some more about it.

I understand thyroiditis can cause muscle and joint pain in some
people. I have degenerative disc deisease also. Anyone know of any
relation between the two?

Jeremy

Wanda,

Thanks for responding. I am somewhat relieved that it is a system
related to thyroid. If you go out on the internet it scares you
half to death. Good luck with your treatment!

T3 (brand name Cytomel) was given to me by my doctor, but only when I

boost I needed to keep going each day, and helped prevent a lot of hypo-

My thyroid was removed 4 years ago, and I have taken cytomel twice only.

Armour as I have already said is a combination of both T4 and T3.

I am definately with you on the weight gain too, and understand
completely, I was told that I should expect to put on at least 40lbs
after my thyroid was removed, but I followed the 'LID' (Low Idoine
Diet) for 8 weeks, this was extremely hard for me, but I did it and it
meant I did not put on any weight at all (honestly!).

How long ago did you have your thyroidectomy? Are you taking any kind
of thryoid hormone now?

You have found a good group here, there are lots of members who have
gone through what you are going through.

Take care and have a good weekend.

my body would not except the generic, so I have been on synthroid ever sense.
The worse lab results I ever got was 38, should no higher than .05. Never
want to be that low again.
I go Monday for my MRI and lab to see if it is my thyroid, I had to ask the
doctor to check my thyroid, she said you just had it checked in June and it was
normal but if I would feel better she'd check it. So we will see.
Take care and have a good weekend.

Kim:
Please keep us posted. I hope that everything will be alright. After you have
your resullts let's know. Even though I am not good reading them, people here is
great knowing the numbers and how they should be and what they mean. And I am
always here to research information so we can compare notes till we find an
answer. You've mentioned that your thyroid was taken, what you mean by that Kim?
Is that mean that you had to remove your thyroid or you were diagnosed with low
thyroid?
As you can see in the posts of the room, armour seems to be the way to get it
back to health, I am going through the transition to adjust to the armour, in my
case, the synthetic version almost killed me, and the doctors didn't had an clue
what they were doing. But with armour, thanks to the help of this group and
specially Denise, I decided to start on armour and I am starting to feel better
slowly. I really wish you the best and please let me know how it go.Love and
Light.

Judith,
Hi, thanks for responding. I had my thyroid taken out 8 or 9 years ago. I've
been on synthyroid and was fine untill last year, my thyroid went wild, the endo
could not get it regulated, this went on for about 5 months.
Then what I thought was for sure a herniated disk ended up being muscle spasms
in my lower back, I also started with all these crazy symptoms, so my reg doc
sent me to a nerologist and he did a couple of tests and then told me I may be
experiencing early symptoms of MS. That really scared the hell out of me. Then
he did a muscle and nerve test about3 weeks later and it came back normal. He
told me come back in 6 months. Slowly I started feeling fine( about 6 weeks)
than wam oh, it came back and now my reg doc is sending me to get a MRI on
Monday. WHich most likely will come back normal to. From what I hear from people
with MS is that it could take years to get diagnosed. The lessions don't always
show up. So now I wait.
I plan on getting my thyroid tested tommorow, I'm sure it is low, because my
hair is falling out so much. So I'll let ya now.

Hi Kimberley
One of the side effects of synthroid can be ringing in your ears. I've had
it for years. And also I have muscle spasms in my back that lead to
tingling in my hands and arms. The tingling happens when a nerve gets
slightly compressed. My solution to this is more exercise and
physiotherapy.
Kate
