Re: [ThyroidDisease] Re: Ultrasound results

Jennifer,

My thyroid levels are normal and I do not have thyroid cancer. I see an
endocrinologist every 3 months and a I complete needle biopsy's every 6.
Nothing has been done as of yet. I don't have any neck or ear problems but I do
have issues swallowing from time to time. Until my thyroid levels and/or if it
becomes cancerous will they do anything about it. It's really been a battle.
So the doc's are going to let it grow! Sad isn't it?

Johanna

Johanna,
Thank you for explaining that to me, it does make much more sense now. I really
appreciate it. If you don't mind me asking, did you ever find out what was wrong
with your thyroid?

Jennifer

Jennifer,

WoW this is all too similar to my situation! I'm 26 and just
recently did all these steps. From someone who knows. This is what
your results mean. Remember I'm not a doctor!!

Think of your thyroid as a butterfly. It consists of two wings.
Your thyroid is shaped in the same way. One side (the right lobe or
right butterfly wing) measures 7.42 X 2.38 X 4.02cm. This is length
width and height. Within the right lobe or right butterfly wing is
a mass or better known as a thyroid nodular that measures 4.10 X
2.05 X 3 cm. This is also length width and height. The same
concept is involved on the left lobe. Homogeneous means that the
nodular is normal appearing….The cells look normal. PERFECT!! The
Isthmus is the space between the two thyroid masses.

As far as the thyroid scan. They are probably going to do a radio
active uptake scan. This will measure how much iodine your thyroid
uptakes within 42 hours. It's a 3 part scan. No biggie! It' just
sucks because you can't swallow during the scan. I was scared at
first but it was VERY easy.

Let me know how everything turns out!

Johanna
