I had my thyroid removed last year. I actually had 2
surgeries. They were 2 weeks apart. During my first
surgery they found cancer and then did a second
surgery to gt the cancer out. My scar is looking good
and it does not bother me at all. Everytime I go to
my local doctor they look at my scar to make sure it
is healing well. I now take Levothyroxin and it
did not take long to feel normal. I have been on it a
year in June. I go every few months for blood work to
check my levels and then they adjust my levels of need
be.
I say that the scar is something that you mom would
have to deal with it and know that I have never been
treated any different. I have about 4" scar and it
does not bother me at all. I wear tank tops and such
that show my neck and no one ever looks at me that iti
s a problem.
