Re: [ThyroidDisease] Thyroid Help

When I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism I talked to
a surgeon and my on doctor and they both gave me my
options. One was do nothing and go on meds. Another
was was have it zapped but with 2 girls that may not
work at all. My levels were so high in part of the
test that meds may not work. I did have a thyroid
ultrasound and that confirmed hyperthyroidism. But my
levels were so out of range that meds would not have
worked. When I talked to the surgeon he gave me my
options and the last one she told me was surgery ans
he asked me if we were done having children which we
have been the day after the youngest was born (sheis
now 6 yrs old).

I decided to have surgery and boy am I glad I did,
because they found cancer during the first surgery and
hashimoto syndrome. So 2 weeks after the first
surgery I had a second to remove the cancer, they
didn't remove the cancer until the pathology report
came back. A few months after the last surgery I had
my thyroid zapped and now I am on thyroid meds which
makes me feel better.

Before surgery I was alwayts hot, my cycles were very
irregular (they are getting better), I was very short
temperes with my girls and things like that. ow I am
more normal or me.

The healing after my surgery was not too bad. I never
realized how much you us e you neck muscles to get up
from a lying position until then so I had to figure
out how to get up or even get comfortable in bed. It
did not take me long. Since I hae 2 girls my oldest
had to help more and looking up for a few days was not
easy, Emily our youngest had to either get things high
by herself by using a stool or wait until someone
could help.

I am glad I did the surgery since they would have
never found the cancer until it was too late. So I
say do your research and find what works best for you.
