Hi,
I had total thyroidectomy in oct'05 and radoi active iodine treatment
in the following december.I had a very big tumor which was around 6cm
on the left and a 4cm one on the right.Luckily there was not much of
a spread and only one lymphnode came positive.Currently I am on
synthroid 112mcg and 6 tabs a week. My TSH was as low as .03 for the
last two blood test and it has slightly increased to .89 this week.
My problem is I am having pains on my finger joints and toes and
elbow and knee.I am not getting my periods too.I found on the net
that u may miss ur periods after RAI for upto one yr, has any one had
any experience like that? I took provera last time and got
periods, and once I had periods all the pains disappeared but I got
heavy swelling on my feet when I went on a long flight(which is a
side effect of provera)so I am scared to take that again and yes they
say it can cause cancer too.
Another fact is that when u have such low TSH is it right that it can
cause osteoporosis and joint pains. Now I am in a dilemma if they
increase my TSH it is not good from the thyroid stand point, and
taking this progestrone pills is also affecting me in different
ways.My obgyn said to put me on birhtcontroll pills, but that also
will create swelling in the leg,the swelling that i got has not gone
back fully yet.I already have swollen ankles for so many yrs now.
I am really concerned as to how to go abt it.I am trying to reduce
weight but not getting my periods is bloating me up further.
Let me know of ur suggestions
Thanks
wishing every one a nice time
sree.
