Hi
I just found out in Feb. that I had an enlarged thyroid and
Hashimoto's disease.
I went to an endo, 1st they did a sonogram, then a nuclear uptake
and scan, and then a needle biopsy, to find that I had 3 nodules on my
right side (one of them being a cold nodule) and 1 nodule on my left.
After the needle biopsy they told me I had hypo and hyper thyroid
conditions, and that my biopsy came back suspicious.
So, therefore the only way to tell if it was cancerous was to remove
the right side of the thyroid. I had it removed on April 6th. At 1st
the surgeon believed that it looked benign, but the pathology came back
cancer.
The results show papillary and follicular cancers but very very
small, in fact just some cells were detected. So that's good, but now
I need to have the other side removed and do the radation pill.
In the meantime, after my surgery my doc told me that my vocal cord
was thin and not responsive, ....ok... well since then my voice is
still raspy and I have a very hard time breathing especially when I
talk... So now they can't do my next surgery until they see if the
cord gets better. I hope it's not paraylized. I guess there's a chance
of that. They told me the reason they have to monitor my vocal cord is
because it will really impair my breathing after the next surgery if
it's no up to par. So has anyone ever dealt with vocal cord
problems.. or any of these problems I would love to hear from some
seasoned thyroid pals.. thanks I hope I get some feedback
P.S. Not to mention the endo told me I have polycycstic ovarian
syndrome also. I guess all of these problems add up to why I haven't
been able to get pregnant... UGH!!! thanks for listening!
