Hi Everyone! My name is Teresa and I was diagnosed with thryroid
disease in 2001. I went to the doctor because I just hadn't been
feeling well. After he had ran every other test on me he thought
about a thryoid test after he found a large cysts on the right side
of my throat. 3 days later I was rushed into surgery to remove 3
cysts from the right side of my thyroid. One of them had began to
cut off my airway. The doctor had told me he had never seen a cysts
as large as one of mine was and it not be cancer but it wasn't. So,
they left the left side of my thyroid hoping it would take over and
do the work of both sides. About 2 months after my surgery I started
having problems with the left side of my thryoid not functioning
properly and it permantaly messed up my nervous system. Since then I
have also been told that my immune system may not be as good to
fight off infection as it did before. Then the next thing I knew I
found out that my thyroid wasn't producing enough hormones to make
my Pancreas function right either which sent me into a diabetic
state. Of course when my thryoid is not working right, it messes
EVERYTHING up in my body which has prevented me from holding down a
steady job. I have recently become a single mom of two boys. The
doctors finally started me on some synthroid to help out my thyroid.
But to say the least... this entire thyroid situation has really
messed up my life for the past 5 years. My husband got to the point
he couldn't cope with me being sick all the time so he left me for
another woman. I have been looking for someone to chat with on the
net about it because so far I am the only one in my family diagnosed
