Dear Mad,
WOW...I know exactly where you and your "lady friend" are both coming from. I
felt the same way she did. I let myself get sicker and sicker before I took the
treatment.
The thyroid is a smart gland, it controls...mood, energy, the whole metabolism
thing.
I just recently told my Dr. that I wished I would not have taken the
treatment...because now now I am chubby and do not have the get up and go of 3
people. My doc. said, "well Leah, you probably would have died then.".... I was
having "thyroid storms." All in all, it's something we have to be treated for.
My thyroid was not removed and I take a synthyroid everyday,
I had a professor whose eye-lids turned inside out, and she had all kinds of
trouble because she wouldn't get treated. I'm not trying to scare you, just
hoping this will help your friend. They don't have to stop the thyroid...you can
ask for the least dose. I really recommend this. I have researched this problem
since 93. Just ask around until you find a doctor who will work w/ her. Remember
the longer she is sick, the longer it takes to get better. I hope this doesn't
sound too harsh.and I hope it helps. Leah
