Hi Kim
I have the same sort of thing - back pain,- both upper and lower. Also my
hips and shoulders give me pain. I did have some back pain before my
thyroid diagnosis but nothing that couldn't be controlled by a week or two
on anti-inflammatories. Since having taken RAI I can no longer get rid of
this pain. I take 222's most of the time just to be able to function. I
have muscle relaxants also but they seem to cause my heart to beat
irregularly, so I try to avoid taking them. I get musle spasms up my neck
and the back of my head which cause headaches.
I was put on Ritalin along with an anti-depressant for a short while and it
helped enormously. I had energy and felt much better. But the doctor
checked my heart and took me off it again. I've had a huge quantity of
blood work done but the doctors found nothing definite. I did have a
positive ANA test but they weren't able to tell why. My doctor told me I
had fibromyalgia. But when I saw a Rhumatologist, he said definitely not.
I have recently had surgery on my shoulder (in January) and returned to the
surgeon yesterday. He now tells me the pain in my shoulder is not related
to his surgery and maybe I had arthritis all along and it just became
obvious after the rotator cuff repair was done. But he has also sent me
for more xrays...
After about five years of trying to find out why I hurt all the time, I have
concluded that it is something I will have to live with. If I get a
diagnosis of some illness that can be treated I will be very pleased - and
surprised. I feel the problem is related to thyroid disease or thyroid
replacement hormone. Wish I could tell you something more positive.
Ringing in your ears can be a side effect of synthroid. At the dosage
you're on, I wouldn't be surprised. I get it when I take asperin. Also
sometimes with my synthroid but not always. I've had it for years and after
a while it just becomes a part of life.
Sorry I can't tell you 'just do this and you will feel better' but that has
not been the case for me. One thing that has helped has been to change my
lifestyle. I try to just 'do' one extra thing in a day. If I'm going
shopping, I don't try to have guests over later in the day. Teaching my
multi-tasking husband this way of life has been a challenge. When I stick
to it I do feel much better. Also I do try to stretch out my aches and
pains a couple of times every day.
Kate

> Hi Kim,
> I am so glad you wrote about the stiffness...the bottom part of my left
arm seems to be getting stiff..it's soooooo uncomfortable. I have been the
round w/Dr's. also. I too am tired of feeling like crap. I also have joint
pain. But I am 57 and feel sometimes like 80. They need to come up w/ better
meds. My doctor finally gave me medicine for ADHD...it is giving me a little
more energy and I hope to God, I can lose some fattage. lol.... It's real
hard when you have the energy of 10 people and then nothing...I have never
heard of Zoloff giving any relief. I can't get an straight answer anywhere
either. I will remember you in my prayers. I hope you feel better.
